This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it in plain language and collect as little as possible.
Overview
Welto ("we", "us") provides tools that turn video, audio, and links into transcripts, summaries, subtitles, and other derived content. This policy covers the information we handle when you use welto.ai and our apps.
We collect only what we need to run the service, and we never sell your personal data.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use Welto, this may include:
- Account details: your name, email address, and authentication data when you sign up.
- Content you provide: files you upload, links you paste, and the transcripts, summaries, and other outputs generated from them.
- Usage data: which features you use, processing and render time, and basic device and log information.
- Billing information: your plan and payment status. Card details are handled by our payment processor, not stored by us.
- Communications: messages you send us for support.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the service.
- Process your uploads and generate the outputs you request.
- Manage your account, subscription, and usage limits.
- Respond to your questions and provide support.
- Detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, and security issues.
- Comply with our legal obligations.
AI processing
To transcribe, translate, summarize, and generate content, we send your media and text to trusted AI providers that process it on our behalf. They act as our processors under contract and are not permitted to use your content to train their public models.
We do not use your private content to train our own public models.
How we share information
We share information only in these limited cases:
- With service providers (hosting, AI processing, payments, email, analytics) who process data on our behalf under contract.
- With other members of your workspace, for content you create in a shared workspace.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Welto and its users.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
Data retention
We keep your content and account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete a project it is removed from your workspace, and when you close your account we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it for legal or accounting reasons.
Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and isolated per-workspace storage. Payments are handled by a PCI-compliant processor.
No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect your information and to limit what we collect in the first place.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in your settings, or by contacting us at privacy@welto.ai.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Keep you signed in and remember your preferences, such as your language.
- Understand how the service is used so we can improve it.
- Keep the service secure and detect abuse.
- Measure the performance of our marketing.
Children's privacy
Welto is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
International data transfers
We and our service providers may process your data in countries other than your own. Where we do, we rely on appropriate safeguards to protect it in line with this policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of Welto after the changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
